Tempelhof-Schöneberg is a borough where the visitors can find interesting historic sites, spacious parks, museums and nightclubs.
Tempelhof is notable for an enormous Tempelhofer Feld. Once it was one of the first commercial airports in the world. Now, this inner-city park is a favourite place of skateboarders, kite flyers, and cyclists. It has around a six acres zone for picnics, so there is plenty of space for a barbecue!
Moreover, this borough is packed with history. It is home to the Marienfelde Refugee Center Museum and St. Matthäus Kirchhof cemetery where the Grimm Brothers are buried. The place around Bayerischer Platz was a Jewish neighbourhood where Albert Einstein and Erich Fromm once lived.
Tempelhof-Schöneberg is also famous as the area where the first gay bar in Germany was opened. Today, the gay community is active enough and usually gathers around Nollendorfplatz. Even one of the U Bahn stations in Schöneberg is illuminated in rainbow colours.
The other boroughs located near Tempelhof-Schöneberg are Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Neukölln and Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
